Android Instructions

Product Requirements

For use on your mobile phone device, you will need: 

  1. An Android mobile phone device equipped with NFC and Bluetooth functionality that is loaded with Android OS: Kitkat and above.

Pairing your Stash card with the Stash app on your Android mobile phone device 

  1. Ensure NFC is enabled on your mobile phone device.
  2. Download the Stash app on your mobile phone device by clicking here or by searching "stashpass" in the Google Play store.
  3. Open the Stash app on your mobile phone device.
  4. While holding your Stash card to the back of your mobile phone device, press and hold the blue circle on your Stash card (you will feel it click like a button) until you receive a success notification in the Stash app on your mobile phone device. 

Note: The NFC antenna is located in different locations depending on your phone, so you may need to slowly slide your Stash card up and down the back of your mobile phone device while pressing the blue circle to determine the best location to hold your Stash card for your mobile phone.

    Creating/adding accounts to your Stash card using your Android mobile phone device

    1. Tap the “+” icon in the bottom right corner of the Stash app.
    2. If you are adding a new account, click “+” beside the “Select Account” field and you will be prompted to enter “New Company Name.” To add login credentials to an existing account already entered into the app, select the account from the drop down menu under “Select Account”. 
    3. Enter your username.
    4. Enter your existing password or if you need to generate a password, click the password generator icon next to the “Password” field.
    5. Tap the “check mark” icon in the top right corner of the “Add Account” screen.
    6. While holding your Stash card to the back of your mobile phone device, press and hold the blue circle on your Stash card (you will feel it click like a button) until you receive a success notification in the Stash app on your mobile phone device.

    Logging into accounts on your Android mobile phone device

    Note: The following instructions are for manually logging in with Stash. If you have Autofill functionality turned on for Stash, you will be prompted to sign in to your accounts using Stash when you click into a login field for the apps or websites you are using.

    1. Open the Stash app on your mobile phone device.
    2. In the Stash app, tap the account for which you would like to view your login credentials.
    3. Hold your Stash card to the back of your mobile phone device while pressing the blue circle on your Stash card (you will feel it click like a button).
    4. Once you see your login credentials appear in the Stash app on your mobile phone device, tap the icon to the right of the password field and it will be copied.
    5. Go to the website or the app that you are wanting to log into and enter your username.
    6. Paste the password into the password field in the website or app you are logging into.

    How to backup the data on your Stash card

    1. Click the hamburger menu in the Stash app on your mobile phone device and select “Manage backup”.
    2. Select how you would like to backup the data from your Stash card (“Encrypted backup file” or “Export CSV file”).
    3. If you select “Encrypted backup file”, you will be prompted to create a password for the backup file. Enter your desired password. 
    4. Hold your Stash card to the back of your phone while pressing the blue circle until the process is complete.
    5. Choose the desired location to store your encrypted backup file and click save.
    6. If you select “Export CSV file”, hold your Stash card to the back of your phone while pressing the blue circle until the process is complete.
    7. Choose the desired location to store your CSV backup file and click save.

    Note: Ensure that the .CSV file is in a safe and secure location as it will not be encrypted. 

    Restoring the data on your Stash card

    1. During the pairing process select “Restore Existing Card” on the “Initializing Stash Card” screen. You can access the “Restore” function by clicking the hamburger menu in the Stash app on your mobile phone device and selecting “Manage backup.” Click “Restore” in the bottom left corner of the “Manage Backup” screen.
    2. From the “Restore Options” screen, select “Complete Restore”.
    3. Enter your password for your backup file. 
    4. Find and select your Stash backup file. 
    5. Hold the Stash card to the back of your phone and press the blue circle until the process is complete.
